¹Ú¿¹¸®ÀÚ
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the factors related with the level and the discrepancies of pain perceived by cancer patients and nurses.
Thirty hospitalized gastro-intestinal cancer patients of non-indicated to surgery hospitalized at Catholic University st. Mary's hospital and kangnam st. Mary's hospital in Seoul and 72 nurses responsible for direct care of those patients were
conveniently sampled from June 1 to July 30, 1993.
The level of pain perceived by patients and nurses was measured by Stewart's graphic rating scale and the nurses' knowledge level of pain management was measured by questionnaire of 30 items questionnaire developed by the researcher.
The data were analyzed by means of descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation coefficient, ANOVA and t-test.
@ES The results were as follows:
@EN 1. Zero discrepancy in the pain scores measured by cancer patients and nurses was 27 percent, but corresponded to 72.9% contaning the extension ranging from-1 to+1.
2. The nurses' knowledge level of pain management was significantly higher in the group with religion(t=-3.58, p=0.001) and the higher educational status(t=-2.08, p=0.008) respectively.
3. No correlation was found between the knowledge level of pain management and the discrepancy in pain perception.
In conclusion, significant discrepancy in the level of pain perception didn't exist between cancer patients and nurses, however, further research is required in clinical nursing.
